Word for the Week
"Spectators or Participators"
Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:21-25
Our text this week challenges us to be doers of the word. It challenges us to be participants in God's plan for the church and not merely spectators.
Sure we can go to church hear great worship music and hear a great sermon but if we don't do anything with what God gives us in those times we will surely forget and just go through life as a spectator to God's awesome works, plan, and will.
Family, some of you may say well I can't do much. Friend I'm here to tell you today that our God doesn't require much for you to be used in a great way/to be a doer of his word! You just have to be willing to take that first step in faith and say Lord I desire to be a doer and not just hearer of your word God reach down and use me today! It is my desire to serve you and your kingdom.
We all have different talents that God has given us. I believe he has given us those talents to further his kingdom, for us to be able to serve him, and to strengthen our faith.
Rest assured family that whatever you set out to do for God, he will bless you, he will give you the strength to it carry out, and lives will be changed because of it including your own.
My prayer today is that we will all commit to be participants in God's plan(doers of his word) and not just merely spectators(hearers of his word).
Be blessed and encouraged today family!
In his service,
~Matt T
