I have had a passion for photography since I used my first disposable camera on a field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in the 4th grade. I started to learn more about photography and started sharpening my skills in 2009 as a desire to produce a quality service for an affordable price. I continue to learn and grow with every single photo session, and hope to do so until the very last session I ever shoot. Why is hiring a photographer so expensive? Photography like many other arts finds is value in the "eye of the beholder" if you will. When selecting a photographer you should first gather at least 3 options if possible. Look at their work first. Let their pictures speak for themselves. If you find yourself saying, I want these type of pictures for myself and my family, then you've found your self a match. There are so many different styles and types of photography, it is very important to find a photographer who understands your vision and desires to best capture these precious moments in your life. If you are looking for cheap...often times, cheap is the quality you will get and looking back will often regret. What is the difference between a standard session and a lifestyle session? A standard session lends more towards posed or planned photos. A lifestyle session is a way to capture your family in a natural setting. Lifestyle sessions are slightly planned in the way of optimizing the shots however they capture the raw emotions and interactions that take place daily that are often end up capturing the best memories, frozen forever in time. What would a lifestyle session look like? The best way to describe a lifestyle session would be to think of a vacation brochure. You see families having the time of their lives and the moment is forever frozen in time. Have you ever thought to your self, I wish I could remember this moment for ever and not be stuck behind the camera? If so then a lifestyle session is for you. How do I prepare for a session? It depends which type of session you are planning for. For a standard or traditional session you simply need to decide on a wardrobe (steer away from bold or bright patterns that would be too distracting) and beyond that just make sure that all the participants are well rested and have recently eaten. *If children are involved it's always best to bring a favorite lovey or toy and a small non-messy incentive snack such as goldfish crackers or smarties candies. both can be easily concealed if need be in a photo and neither leave a messy residue on clothing or hands. For a lifestyle session: If the session takes place in your home make sure any space that will be used in the session or can be seen during the session is clean and clear from clutter. Think as if you are staging your home for sale. Be sure to pay attention ahead of time to when the room(s) being used have the best indirect sun exposure resulting in a brighter room.
