Success Story: On-the-Job Training

This quarter, we have seen the successful completion of an on-the-job training (OJT) participant. At the age of 46, the participant was unemployed and trying to find her way back into the workforce. During her intake and assessment with her CEFS WIOA Career Planner, it was determined that OJT would be the right path for her to take. Her Career Planner worked with the local county housing authority to establish an OJT contract.

The participant began employment with the housing authority in September and excelled in her position as an administrative assistant. The supervisor always reported positively about her, and in January, she received a pay increase. After her six-month OJT contract ended in March 2026, she continues to work as the administrative assistant and excels!

Congratulations, Elaine!

Last week, several CEFS staff attended the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies Annual Conference in Springfield, IL. Two staff members came home with awards!

Elaine Nuding, WIOA Coordinator in Effingham, received the Outstanding Service Award, and Staceye Horvet, Outreach County Coordinator for Clay County, was recognized for her achievement in the Level-Up Your Advocacy Challenge. Congratulations, Elaine and Staceye!
