CEFS Workforce Programs Welcome to the CEFS Workforce Programs (WIOA and LWIA 23). How does WIOA help job seekers and unemployed individuals? Career Planner.

We want to introduce you to the endless possibilities within the workforce system to help you navigate any employment barriers and assist you in achieving your goals! WIOA prepares youth and unemployed individuals for successful and sustainable employment by providing career services and programs. All WIOA customers are eligible for self-assisted career services, and if staff-assisted career services are necessary, then the customer would be registered and provided assistance directly from a C.E.F.S. An individual plan will be developed with each customer to identify which career and supportive services are needed and will be provided. How does WIOA & LWIA 23 help area businesses? WIOA contributes to the growth of our economy and allows for business expansion by matching employers with proven, skilled individuals. Local Workforce Area 23 provides work-based learning, which includes: Incumbent Worker Training, On-The-Job Training, Apprenticeships, and Work Experience. On Monday, LWIA 23 had the pleasure of attending Man-Tra-Con Corporation's Apprenticeship Roundtable in Marion, IL. Presenters included Amy Murphy (IMEC Illinois), Brenda Malone (Intermountain Electronics), and Abby Russell (Man-Tra-Con Corporation).

As fellow LWIA, we appreciated the opportunity to observe how Man-Tra-Con brings employers, local educators, and workforce partners together to discuss apprenticeship and workforce development initiatives. The event provided valuable insight into the planning, structure, and facilitation of a successful roundtable, along with strategies for encouraging meaningful employer engagement and discussion.

Thank you to Man-Tra-Con for welcoming us and sharing best practices. Collaboration between workforce areas helps us strengthen our services and bring new ideas to our region. We look forward to applying what we learned as we continue supporting employers, apprenticeships, and workforce development efforts throughout LWIA 23.

Registered Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience with a mentor and receive progressive wage increases, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally recognized credential. Registered Apprenticeships are industry-vetted and are approved and validated by the U.S. Department of Labor.

September is Workforce Development Month.

It was started in 2005 to raise awareness about the importance of workforce development to a growing national economy.

Since then, Workforce Development Month has grown into an annual opportunity for workforce organizations across the country to celebrate their professionals, showcase successful programs and partnerships, engage their communities, and demonstrate the impact of workforce development.
