This week, I was honored to be invited to participate in Imperial County’s recognition of Financial Literacy Month and share my perspective as President and CEO of Southwest Protective Services, Inc., one of Imperial County’s largest private employers.
I’ve always believed that being an employer means more than just providing a paycheck. It means helping our employees build a stronger financial future for themselves and their families. That’s why we offer a 401(k) retirement program with an employer match, along with pre-tax healthcare and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). These benefits not only help our employees save money and plan for tomorrow but also encourage greater financial awareness and personal responsibility. I truely believe that when our employees become more financially secure, our families, businesses, and communities become stronger.
A special thank you to Sun Community Federal Credit Union and Corazo Credit Union for their continued commitment to financial education through community outreach, workshops, and valuable resources. I also want to thank Peter Martinez, Imperial Valley College Trustee and educator, for his leadership in helping bring this important initiative forward.
Financial literacy isn't just about managing money today. It's about creating opportunities and financial security for tomorrow.
