Entrepreneurship teaches me something every day. Often, it's tech details I never wanted to know, but running a business has schooled me about valuing my time.
Leaders with big hearts want to jump in and solve everything. But I've learned to slow down and let myself think. I've learned to recalibrate what time is actually for.
When I started my Teach Your Thing seven years ago, vacations were non-existent. I didn't yet get that saying yes to everything wasn't my job. I'd later discover that filling every gap bogs things WAY down--for me and my business.
I'd be lying if I said taking time off comes easily. But here I am... on a weeklong vacation, restoring my soul on a trip to the family that lives 1,500 miles away.
Here, at in El Prado, New Mexico, I spent 24 hours in a souped -up vintage trailer and stared at the mountains.
As a bonus, the grounds have a community library, where I found an opportunity to drop off my book! Evidently, plenty of entrepreneurs swing through this amazing place as they claim their own sense of time and place, often using this as a base for work.
What does time look like for you, my fellow big-hearteds? Explore the idea in my book. Find in the bio or order from your fave online bookseller.
