⚠️ Boat Owner PSA – Don’t Let This Happen to Your Battery Cables ⚠️
This is what happens when battery cables are left exposed, poorly routed, or not properly maintained. Over time, moisture, corrosion, vibration, and rubbing will eat away at the insulation and wiring until you’re left with bare copper and a serious problem.
🚫 What this can cause:
• Hard starting or no power
• Intermittent electrical issues
• Overheating cables
• Blown fuses or fried electronics
• Fire risk 🔥
• Being stranded on the water
✅ How to prevent it:
• Inspect battery cables regularly
• Replace cracked, corroded, or stiff cables
• Use marine-grade tinned wire
• Secure cables so they don’t rub or vibrate
• Keep connections clean, tight, and protected
• Use heat shrink and proper lugs—not tape jobs
A few minutes of maintenance can save you a ruined day (or worse) on the water. If your cables look anything like this, it’s time to replace them.
Stay safe and tight lines 🎣🚤
