🚨 TODAY IS THE FORM 2290 DEADLINE!

If you still haven’t filed, August 31 is the deadline but missing it doesn’t mean you should leave it undone.

A late filing may result in an IRS notice with applicable penalties and fees, but you’ll still need your paid Form 2290 for your IRP renewal.

So if you’re behind, get it taken care of. Better late than never.

Filed your 2290 under the wrong weight class? It can be corrected.

If the taxable gross weight was reported too low, an amended Form 2290 may be required, and any additional tax due will need to be paid to the IRS. All About Trucks can help correct the filing and take care of the payment electronically.

Is your truck subject to Form 2290? It comes down to more than just the truck itself. 🚛

Taxable gross weight includes the vehicle and the trailer or semitrailer customarily used with it, along with the maximum load customarily carried. If that taxable gross weight reaches 55,000 lbs or more, Form 2290 may be required.

And for trucks at 80,000 lbs or more, the full-year tax can be $550.

📅 If your taxable vehicle was first used on public highways in July 2026, the Form 2290 deadline is August 31.

Adding another truck later in the year? Your filing date and tax may be different, so don’t assume August 31 applies to every newly added vehicle.
