An ancient bola stone (also called a bolas stone) is a rounded stone that was used as a weight on a hunting weapon thousands of years ago.
What were bola stones used for?
Ancient hunters attached two or three stones to cords made from animal hide or plant fibers. They swung the weapon and threw it toward an animal, attempting to entangle its legs or strike it.
Bolas were especially useful for hunting running animals and birds in some cultures.
