Congratulations to our latest Middleby MVPs, Varun Rallabandi from Newton Beverage Solutions, and Steven Boyd from Doyon/NU-VU & Carter-Hoffmann!

Varun has constantly shown a willingness to go above and beyond to find the best, most effective software solutions for customers. His attention to detail has resulted in completing some amazing software engineering projects. Varun has represented Middleby and Newton at multiple tradeshows, and his presence is known. When Varun is on the show floor he does a great job of teaching and engaging customers by listening to understand their needs and offering solutions. Our customers and leadership teams speak highly of Varun and remember him after meeting him.

Steven has been with Doyon/NU-VU for eighteen years!! He recently earned a well-deserved promotion to Product Manager & International Sales Lead at Doyon/NU-VU & Carter-Hoffmann. Congrats on your new role, Steven! Recently he developed several apps that enable customers to input their baking or cooking needs to be matched with their ideal product. He quickly (within days!) led the project from conception to launch, giving customers and reps a streamlined approach to make product browsing and selection much more simplified.

Phil Mauter has been promoted to President, QualServ North America! Yea!

In this role, Phil will lead the QualServ North American strategy and oversee the day-to-day operations of all business functions. He is committed to elevating the customer experience while scaling the outstanding QS solutions and services. You can read his announcement here:

Phil joined QualServ in 2021 as VP of operations, then was named General Manager in early 2025. While QS operations have benefitted from his business expertise, Team QualServ knows him as a trusted leader, problem solver, and head cheerleader. He has built a loyal employee base and a positive, can-do culture throughout the organization that strongly resonates with all in the QS orbit.

Culture is important to Phil, at work and outside of it. A competitor at heart, Phil often challenges himself by powerlifting and loves to pack up his Jeep for some off-roading, or visiting a calm, cool stream for fly fishing.

A Chicago native, Phil’s career has taken him all over the U.S. and world, including a stint in China. Exploring the globe reflects his personal life as well. Phil and his wife, Mindy, love to travel and daughters Amanda and Brianna are often along for the adventure. The stamps in their passports include Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium with Spain next on their bucket list. When travelling they make it a point to always seek out local cuisine and the oldest pubs to experience the true roots of culture and history at any location.

There is a “little girl,” who can do no wrong in the eyes of this powerlifter and off roader, a miniature Dachshund named Eleanor, who is known to be a bit spoiled by her parents.

Phil, just reading about you motivates us. You’ve truly built an exceptional team at QualServ who are inspired to serve our customers at the highest level. We know the sky is the limit in your new role! Thanks for spreading good vibes wherever you go!! Congratulations Phil!!

We are excited to announce that Rachel Mago has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at Taylor Company!

In this expanded role, Rachel will assume responsibility for the sales teams in Europe, APAC, and other global service and sales groups. Rachel has a vast knowledge base, endless enthusiasm, and has successfully built deep connections and trust with Taylor partners and customers.

One could say that Rachel was destined to work at Taylor. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, her first job was at the only custard shop in Washington State! That’s not to say she took a direct line to Taylor, though. A Spanish major in college, Rachel moved to Spain to teach English. Returning home and teaching high school Spanish for a year prompted her to explore a career shift to sales. Rest assured, her Spanish fluency is in use and a definite asset to her current global role.

Growing up in the PNW fostered her sense of adventure and love of the outdoors, which has led to several foreign hiking adventures with her husband, Johnny. Check out this cool photo of the pair in Iceland! She always up for travel and adding stamps to her passport.

At her Chicago home, Rachel enjoys experimenting with recipes, discovering new restaurants, and tackling the most intricate Legos. Of course, she visits her family in the PNW as much as possible.

Congratulations, Rachel, on your promotion. We sure hope that custard shop can see you now!

Let’s recognize Houno, one of the first Middleby European-based brands, on their 20-year anniversary as part of Middleby!

With a keen focus on engineering and design, over the decades Houno has evolved into a global brand, recognized worldwide for advanced innovation and user-friendly solutions. Most recently, their award-winning Invoq has elevated expectations on what a combi oven can and should be capable of. Next year Houno will celebrate 50 years since founder Hans Jørgen Houmøller built his first oven that was used in his brother’s restaurant.
