🦇 BAT EXCLUSION SEASON IS ALMOST HERE!

August 15 marks the start of bat exclusion season in Kentucky!

If you’ve been hearing scratching or movement in the attic, noticing bats around your roofline at dusk, or finding bat droppings around your home, now is the time to have your property inspected.

During the summer, female bats commonly form maternity colonies inside attics, soffits, walls and other protected areas of homes. Their pups are born primarily during May and June and may be unable to fly earlier in the summer. That’s why professional exclusions are delayed until the young are capable of leaving the structure with the colony.

A proper bat exclusion isn’t about killing bats. Bats are protected in Kentucky, and there are no legal toxicants for bat control. The solution is to identify entry points, seal secondary openings and install one-way exclusion devices that allow the bats to leave but prevent them from getting back inside.

Common signs of a bat problem:

🦇 Guano on siding, decks or below entry points
🦇 Scratching or movement in walls and attics
🦇 Dark staining around gaps and openings
