Do you struggle with work/life boundaries in running your own small business? Do you feel compelled to answer customer messages 24/7?
The first thing I recommend to new startups is to create a business email, phone number, and social pages - don't use your personal contact info for business. If you can put them all on a separate phone, that's ideal - I use an old wifi-only phone for this, and it's perfect for me. If that's not possible, set up "modes" to customize when you get notifications from your work apps, and only work during your established work hours. In this age of instant gratification, and everyone having a phone at their fingertips every second of every day, it's easy to feel like we need to hurry up and respond to keep customers happy. I've found that once your clients and customers realize you will answer their messages on the next business day, they will come to respect it. And if they don't respect it, then they're not your ideal customers anyway.

An assistant? Not exactly.
A part time employee? No, I just work with multiple organizations.

"What do you do, exactly?"
I'm the operational leader you need but can't justify hiring full time. I find gaps in efficiency, build the systems, and then help execute all of it. That's a few hours a week most of the time.

This isn't a model we are used to, but it can be so effective in 2026. Because I'm not buried in one organization's needs, I see patterns across industries that a full-time hire never would. I bring solutions that have already worked somewhere else.

It's not a lesser version of having an Operations Manager.

It's a different — and often better — one.

Feeling overwhelmed with the "business" part of running your business? Kinda know what you need but don't really know how to get there or where to start? I can help. I'm working with a new client this month, and here's what I've done for them so far (after our Breakthrough Strategy Session):
~ Connected with a local bookkeeper and set up an intro meeting
~ Joined them on the intro call for moral support and to help make sure they shared the important information and asked the right questions
~ Had a debriefing phone call with my client to discuss the next steps
~ Set up the next meeting with the new bookkeeper where we will get more into the weeds with the books.

When something as important as hiring a bookkeeper feels like too much, I'll help you every step of the way.

As I am finishing up my 3rd year in business, I've been reflecting on how much has changed and how far I've come. It's exciting to see how much my business has grown since its infancy, and to dream about where the future might take me.

How it started (2022):
Virtual Assistant
Generic logo/biz cards
Headshot = bathroom selfie (hey, there's good lighting in there)
Inconsistent website and branding
1 client for the first 6 months, and 2 for the first year

How it's going (2025):
Online Business Manager, with completed training
Professionally designed logo and branding colors/website
Professional branding photos
6 consistent clients, (plus others "as-needed") with 3-4x increase in monthly income

As we head towards the end of 2025, I'm so thankful for everyone I've met, everyone who has worked with me directly as a client or a contractor, and everyone who has passed my info on to your friends and collogues and helped my business succeed. I'm looking forward to even more success in 2026!

I'm not great at coming up with catchy social media slogans, but I AM good at getting your s**t done! Here are just a few things I've been working on this week for my clients:
✅Created a spreadsheet to track customer reviews, including an automation that adds names to the sheet whenever they add a new contact to their CRM
✅Responded to voice and text messages for a local business owner who is on vacation
✅Created a home page, offerings, and a scheduling page for a new business on their website platform
✅Helped someone get 2 years worth of back tax paperwork filed and old fees paid
