Last week, West Side Middle School students put their skills to the test at Dec-O-Art during Elkhart County Manufacturing Days!

📞 Telephone game: Led by a member of the Sales team, this activity showed how clear communication and careful listening affect every step of a process.

💻 IT Bingo: Led by our IT Specialist, this card matching competition introduced the technologies behind modern manufacturing and showed how teamwork and continuous improvement lead to better results.

✏️ Design challenge: Led by a member of the Project Engineering team, students asked questions to understand a “customer’s” vision, then tried to draw it.

🃏 Card matching: Led by a member of our Production team, this challenge tested the teams to organize a deck of cards by using communication in an assembly line

Each activity showed how communication, teamwork, and problem solving shape careers in modern manufacturing. Thank you to the students and teachers for spending the morning with us!

Dec-O-Art hosted eighth grade students from West Side Middle School for Elkhart County Manufacturing Days! By participating, we helped build awareness of local career opportunities and support the region’s future workforce. In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month last month, the Dec-O-Art team got hands-on for Care Camps Foundation, creating custom Jenga games and inspirational cards for children attending camp.

Our team applied custom labels to the Jenga blocks and wrote positive and encouraging messages on cards, all to help bring a little extra joy to the kids playing at camp.

She's a natural teacher, willing to share her expertise and best practices with others, and she's self-motivated, staying flexible and adjusting plans as needed to get the job done.

🌟 September was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to recognize the children and families navigating this journey and the organizations that support them.

Yesterday, Dec-O-Art donated $16,610 to Care Camps Foundation, marking our second year supporting their mission. Care Camps Foundation funds medically supervised oncology camps that allow children with cancer, and their families, to experience the joy and healing power of the outdoors.

🚨Donation Day Spotlight: Cultivate Food Rescue 🚨

Cultivate Food Rescue is a Northern Indiana nonprofit dedicated to rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to neighbors facing food insecurity, all in service of its mission: No Neighbor Hungry, No Food Wasted.

This year, our team helped with meal bagging, sorting frozen meals and packaging them into bags for distribution throughout the community, packing 630 bags of 6 meals each onto a skid in just 12 minutes. In the afternoon, the team moved to meal production, working assembly-line style to fill meal trays, seal and stack finished meals, prepping 2,502 meals in 2 hours.

Dec-O-Art also donated $25,000 to Cultivate Food Rescue, helping fuel their mission long after Donation Day.

We were glad to support Cultivate Food Rescue and the neighbors they serve!

🚨Donation Day Spotlight: Angels in the Attic 🚨

Angels in the Attic is a 100% volunteer-run organization that provides emergency support and practical essentials to women, children, and individuals across Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan who are leaving abusive situations.

This year, our Dec-O-Art team dug into a variety of hands-on projects at Angels in the Attic. Part of the group tackled clothing totes, checking sizes and quality, refolding items, organizing inventory, and getting everything labeled and back on the shelves. Another group reorganized and restocked shelving upstairs, while the team also helped move and organize food pantry items, cleaning supplies, and toiletries.

Alongside our volunteer work, Dec-O-Art donated $25,000 to further Angels in the Attic's impact in the community.

🚨Donation Day Spotlight: A Rosie Place for Children🚨

A Rosie Place for Children is Indiana's first and only specialty hospital dedicated exclusively to providing respite care for medically fragile children, serving families from all 92 Indiana counties.

This year, our team helped A Rosie Place get ready for its annual "It's A Wonderful Life" Christmas party for the medically fragile children and families they serve. Our team painted canvas panels for a Christmas craft, sorted toys and apparel, and assisted with other projects as A Rosie Place prepares for its upcoming events.

Dec-O-Art also gave $25,000 to A Rosie Place, adding to the impact of our time on-site.

We were glad to get to work and make a difference for this organization and the families they support!

This Donation Day, the Dec-O-Art team gave back in a big way, contributing $75,000 to A Rosie Place for Children, Angels in the Attic, and Cultivate Food Rescue.

Beyond the donation, our team spent the day volunteering directly with each organization, lending a hand with the work they do every day to support our community.

Giving back is close to our hearts at Dec-O-Art, and days like this remind us why it matters.

👷Happy 4th Annual Donation Day!👷‍♀

Dec-O-Art will be closed today, September 18th, as our team celebrates Donation Day, a hands-on volunteering day at local non-profits. We will return on Monday, September 21st.
