We brought in Mary-Jo Richie, owner of Mary-Jo Richie Photography & Studio, to come teach our students firsthand how to build their brand and show up powerfully online. 📸🎥

Mary-Jo is a South Bend photographer, creative entrepreneur, and social media strategist with 25+ years of experience — and she stepped into our classroom and poured directly into the next generation. 💛
The students learned how to tell THEIR story through photos, video, and digital content — and walked away knowing how to turn their ideas into real opportunities. 💡

Session 8 of the Line of Sight Academy is coming, and we brought in someone SPECIAL.

Meet Quenton Williams — digital arts educator, visual storyteller, and founder of 1Flame Multimedia. Quenton teaches young people how to create, how to communicate, and how to move through the world with purpose.

On Tuesday, May 19, he's bringing that same energy to our students for "How Do I Navigate the Digital World?"

Councilman Pastor Canneth Lee pulled UP this week and gave our students something they didn't expect — a front row seat to how real change gets made in South Bend. 🙌🏾

Here's what our young leaders walked away knowing:

📢 They have a VOICE — and exactly how to use it

💰 Paid youth internship opportunities right here in their city

And let's talk about the pothole story.

👀 Councilman Lee broke down how a simple concern raised the RIGHT way led to potholes in the city actually getting FIXED. That's not just a story — that's proof that speaking up works.

Then, a senior right here at Rise Up Academy stood up and shared her own experience with the internship program. THAT is what it looks like when you can see it AND be it. 💪🏾

Our students aren't waiting to be old enough to matter. They're learning to lead RIGHT NOW.
