Elegant little blade sign for the Monadnock Bistro. The building this will adorn, has always been a favorite. Built in 1893, it was ahead of its’ time. The building flares out at its’ base and despite having a brick facade somehow finds a way to include some heavy rounded bay windows that extend up to the sky(16 stories anyway). I worked around the corner in the Santa Fe building and would eat lunch at a deli on the ground floor. I just remember feeling good walking thru that space. Burnham & Root - Holabird and Roche. The sign is cnc milled and the background is hand carved with a woodgrain texture. 23k Gold Leaf lettering and a welded steel bracket with a powder coated satin black finish.

Layout and custom sign for Bigfoot Valley Farm and The Stables in Elkhorn, WI. This one features a hand carved woodgrain background, relief ribbons and thru cavities to receive the structural supports. The eastlake style details were added to tie into the details of the homestead.

Finished up two of custom signs for Golden Boy BBQ. Features 23k gold leafed lettering surface mounted to drop shadows on a hand carved background. Golden Boy is going into the space formerly occupied by HB Jones on York Road in Elmhurst (where ya always save more money). Special thanks to Tony Gambino and Pitmaster Joey for allowing me to sample some of their delicious brisket in advance of their May 17th opening. Their massive offset smoker is sure to deliver on their promise of incredible Texas style BBQ, Tri Tip, Ribs and chicken. Be sure to stop in and check them out!

After many months in the works, this facade sign has finally gone to its home in Antigo, WI. From initial concept drawings to carving, fabrication, sanding and painting, this one took some serious effort. In the end, the owners of this fine establishment seemed pleased with the outcome. Glad to have a small part in helping them bring one of their dreams into fruition. It's an interesting shop that is centered around learning various skills like cultivating plants, how to utilize medicinal herbs, growing mycelium and overall be more healthy and self reliant. Next time you go 'up Nort' check em' out in downtown Antigo, WI

Very saddened to share the news that my father ‘Tony Janda Sr.’ passed away on Monday in his home surrounded by our family. Thought I’d share one of my favorite photos of him. This was taken at Comiskey Park while the Kansas City A’s were looking at him for a spot as a Catcher. That’s my Grandfather on the left. Definitely a proud day for both. He caught Satchel Paige that day who was a Pitching coach for the A’s at the time. Despite a short lived career, Baseball continued to be very influential throughout his life and inspired many wood carvings that he produced.

As many of you know, My Dad founded this business 50 years ago. He started down the path of sign making with encouragement by his good friend ‘Rocco Corbino Sr.’ Rocco had a sign shop at the time and thought it would be a good way for my Dad to use his creativity to sell paper signs to the clients he would call on as a wine salesman. Shortly thereafter, another friend ‘Neil Hansen’ suggested he make a trip to California to visit a shop that was producing sandblasted Redwood signs. This style of signage had not taken off yet in the midwest. He learned the production process and brought it here filling a void in the market. He taught himself woodworking and over the years passed on his expertise to my Brother Tony Jr., myself and many of our friends. He always believed that everyone had the potential to develop some skills and contribute in some meaningful way. To my best friend and Father, I love you and will proudly carry on the tradition.
