Good morning everyone. In preparation for the impending weather event - we advise against operating heat pumps during the storm.
Despite their functionality - ice formation on fan blades can dislodge and hit the coils or the fan motor can freeze and stop spinning causing it to overheat and burnout.
To minimize potential damage - we strongly recommend utilizing emergency heat throughout the storm and until all ice has melted from the outside equipment.
Although electric heat incurs higher operational costs - it is more cost-effective than replacing coils and fan motors - which can exceed thousands.
From everyone here at Mr Fix-It - please stay safe, warm, and consider checking on your elderly and neighbors.
