Don't delay in waiting to hire your great applicants!
The Conn State Police Public Safety processes fingerprint requests for Public Education School Boards. Fingerprints are an excellent way to identify people but the search is only as good as the information on file and time is off the essence. After the CT Public Safety reviews the request it is then forwarded to the FBI for their review. This process can take 30-120 days & depending on the time of year & work load.
In 2013 an incident occurred with a teacher that was hired, in the fall in Connecticut, and the Board of Ed awaited the answer from the Dept of Public Safety. In Oct 2013 a fingerprint request was being processed while a the teacher had been on the job for 7 weeks when an arrest occurred. The teacher was charged with strangulation, sexual assault & assault on a disabled person while at a music event. The teachers criminal record would show he had a previous issue, in 2012, where he was sentenced to 6 months jail time.
