🔥 PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT – EXTREME HEAT 🔥

With temperatures climbing above 100°F, Elm Mott Fire Rescue encourages everyone to take extra precautions to stay safe.

Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, especially water or electrolyte drinks. Avoid excessive alcohol and sugary drinks, which can make dehydration worse. Do not wait until you feel thirsty to start drinking.

Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, wear light-colored clothing, and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.

Never leave children, elderly adults, or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute. Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.

Watch for signs of heat illness, including dizziness, nausea, heavy sweating, weakness, confusion, or loss of consciousness. If someone becomes confused, stops sweating, passes out, or has a body temperature above 103°F, call 911 immediately.

Stay cool. Drink fluids. Stay safe.
