BURN BAN LIFTED 🔥

With the recent change in weather, burning restrictions in Grays Harbor County have been lifted as of midnight.

Normal burning regulations remain in effect. Please have a water source readily available, follow all applicable requirements, and ensure fires are completely extinguished when finished.

BURN BAN UPDATE

Effective today, September 18, burning restrictions in Grays Harbor County have been reduced.

Recreational campfires and charcoal BBQs are once again permitted when used in accordance with the requirements outlined by the Grays Harbor County Fire Marshal.

Restrictions on residential yard waste and land-clearing burns remain in effect until further notice.

Although recent weather has allowed restrictions to be reduced, please continue to use caution with all outdoor fires and ensure campfires are completely extinguished before leaving them unattended.

25 years ago today, our nation was forever changed by the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives that day, including 343 members of the FDNY and dozens of other first responders.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives, those who answered the call, and the countless families and communities forever changed by the events of that day.

25 years later, we remember their courage, service, and sacrifice.

We will never forget.

Our firefighters train regularly to keep their skills sharp and ready to deploy when seconds count. Over the past two weeks, our crews have been working on initial fireground operations, simulating the first several minutes of a structure fire.

Training has focused on hose deployments, establishing a water supply, and initial incident command.

The first few minutes of a structure fire can set the tone for the entire incident. Regular training helps our crews practice these critical tasks together and prepares them to operate safely and efficiently when the real call comes in.

BURN BAN STILL IN EFFECT

We've received multiple calls to the station today asking whether burning restrictions have been lifted.

Despite the recent rain, conditions are still quite dry, and burning restrictions remain in effect.

At this time, all recreational fires, land-clearing burns, yard-waste burns, and charcoal grilling are prohibited. Propane grills and propane fire pits are still allowed.

Schools are back in session in our area!

As everyone settles back into their routines, please remember to slow down and stay alert around schools, crosswalks, and school buses. Give yourself a little extra time during the morning and afternoon commutes, and keep an eye out for students walking or biking to and from school.

We hope all of our local students, teachers, and school staff have a safe and successful school year!

WILDFIRE MOBILIZATION UPDATE

Brush 51 and crew returned home Wednesday afternoon and received word yesterday that they would be redeploying to the Little Giant Fire. They depart today at 12:30.

Brush 51 is deploying as part of Central Region Strike Team 2.

Brush 51 with Firefighters Coleman and Mueller is being mobilized to the Colwash Fire in Yakima County.

Tender 51 has returned home from deployment to the Sinlahekin Fire, arriving late Friday evening.

We are proud to have had the opportunity to assist the communities and firefighters affected by the fire and are glad to have Tender 51 safely back home.
