In the event of a wildfire or other emergency requiring evacuation, do you know what the different evacuation levels mean?

Remember: Ready, Set, GO!

Level 1 – Be Ready: Be aware of possible danger in your area and get ready to evacuate. Stay informed through local news, radio, and official alerts.

Level 2 – Be Set: Be prepared to leave at any moment. Those who may need additional time to evacuate should consider evacuating now. Those with pets or livestock should begin making arrangements.

Level 3 – Go Now: There is an immediate threat to life and property. Leave immediately without delay.

Understanding these evacuation levels is critical for personal safety and helps ensure an orderly evacuation during an emergency.

There are no active evacuation notices in our area. This post is for educational purposes only.

Stay safe, East County!

🔥 BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥

Effective 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026. With the continued trend of warm and dry weather and increased fire danger across the region, the Grays Harbor County Fire Marshal’s Office and Fire Districts are enacting further restrictions on outdoor burning in Grays Harbor County until conditions moderate.

Fire safety burn bans are enacted when weather and fire fuel conditions reach a level of danger that may pose a threat to people and their property. The Department of Natural Resources has moved their fire risk on public lands in our region to ‘high’. This triggers the County’s process to enact the fire safety ban to minimize the threat of fires as much as possible.

At this time, recreational campfires, charcoal and wood burning devices, residential yard waste and land clearing burns are prohibited until further notice.

The use of natural and propane gas burning barbeques, pellet burning devices, gas camp stoves and gas fire pits is allowed.

🚩 RED FLAG WARNING 🚩

A Red Flag Warning is in effect beginning today at 4:00 PM and continuing through Thursday at 2:00 PM due to the potential for lightning and gusty outflow winds. Isolated thunderstorms and outflow winds that may reach 25–30 mph before and after storms will create conditions that favor rapid fire spread.

We are asking for your help to prevent wildfires:
• Avoid outdoor burning.
• Call 911 immediately if you discover a fire.
• Properly dispose of smoking materials after ensuring they are completely extinguished.
• Use extra caution when operating equipment that can produce sparks.

Additionally, be aware of thunderstorms that may pass through the area. If thunder roars, go indoors!

Have a safe day, East County!
