Possums don’t eat ticks. A 2021 study looked through the stomach contents of 32 wild Virginia opossums and found zero ticks or tick parts, then reviewed 23 other diet studies and still found no evidence that ticks are a part of their diet. Possums absolutely will eat eggs, including turkey eggs and chicken eggs. Turkeys have been proven to eat a good amount of ticks. So the possum people keep calling a tick-eating hero, actually cause a net increase in ticks.
