🐿️🚒 SQUIRREL RESCUE… SORT OF 😂

The Borough of Emmaus Fire Department was dispatched for an animal rescue after a caller reported a squirrel stuck in a tree between power lines — and apparently crying for help.

Engine 7 responded to investigate.

Upon arrival, crews located the squirrel lying comfortably on the communications lines. The squirrel looked at firefighters, appeared to be perfectly fine and — despite the original report — was no longer crying.

Then, apparently realizing the fire department had arrived on its behalf, the squirrel simply scurried up the telephone pole. 😂🐿️

Crisis averted. Squirrel 1, Engine 7… well, at least they tried. 😂

Last night, your Emmaus Professional Firefighters were dispatched to the City of Allentown for the (what would be become) 6th Alarm Structure Fire on North Front Street.

3 of Emmaus' bravest responded with Ladder 7 & operated into the early hours of this morning. 6 additional members of L5004 & Chief 7 returned to the firehouse to stand fast & provide coverage to the region during this heavily resource taxing incident.

In that same timeframe, Rescue Engine 7 was dispatched to Lower Milford Township as the extrication company for a Motor Vehicle Collision with Entrapment. Three L5004 members responded.

Through the entire duration of the incident, The Emmaus Borough remained protected by the professional firefighters, uninterrupted.

The Emmaus Professional Firefighters stand ready to respond to all emergencies, both here in Emmaus, and beyond.

As we approach Memorial Day, your Emmaus Professional Firefighters have been out in the community replacing grave marker flags at the resting places of our past members and veterans in remembrance of their service and sacrifice.

This annual tradition is led by Assistant Chief Tom Carl and serves as a small token of gratitude for those who gave so much to their communities and country.

Our members have made their rounds at Calvary, Northwood, L&R, and Western Salisbury Jerusalem Cemeteries to ensure these firefighters and service members are honored and never forgotten this Memorial Day.

Last night, Emmaus Fire and EMS hosted First Due Autism Training and their outstanding Autism Awareness program. Your Emmaus Professional Firefighters received training to better prepare us to respond to emergencies that involve people on the spectrum. Thank you to brother Zach Kirsch for building & leading such a fantastic program.

The Borough of Emmaus Fire and EMS is hosting Instructor Zach Kirsch & his program "Autism Awareness for First Responders" at EFD's Central Station on 24MAR2026 1800-2000. This event is pending approval for 2 CEU's for those that attend. This unique training opportunity will help our members & Fire/EMS/Police/911 provide better service for emergencies with individuals with Autism! We hope to see you there!

Yesterday (04FEB2026), your Emmaus Professional Firefighters hosted 5 students (and their families) from Lincoln Elementary for a "Breakfast at the Firehouse" and a "Ride to School in a Fire Truck" event. The 5 lucky kiddos won this opportunity on Lincoln Elementary's Annual Bingo Night!

In Cooperation with Mrs. Scheirer, members cooked a Pancake Breakfast on the Bay Floor for the kiddos, then escorted them to start their school day in Ladder 7!

We had a blast making this happen & hope to make make it an annual event!

🔥Your Emmaus Professional Firefighters are currently operating at a 3rd Alarm Fire in the City of Allentown, assisting our brothers from Local 302 Allentown International Association of Firefighters.

🚨Seven members of L5004 remain on duty in the Emmaus Borough to cover our first due.

The Emmaus Professional Firefighters stand ready to respond to emergencies of all natures, both inside & out of Emmaus.

Since the beginning of Snow Operations (Saturday Evening), your Emmaus Professional Firefighters have responded to 16 emergencies. This includes responding with 3 members to Upper Macungie Township for the 2nd Alarm House Fire, a reported fire in Salisbury Township, and 10+ runs here in Emmaus. The firehouse maintained a level of 6 personnel staffing the Engine & Ladder company through the storm. Members worked hard to keep ramps & hydrants cleared, while handling emergencies throughout town.

The Emmaus Fire and EMS Department (staffed by your professional firefighters) stands prepared to handle all emergencies, regardless of weather & environmental conditions.
