Thanks for visiting J.R. Customs Holsters. Hi, I am Jim Ryan and I run J.R. Customs Holsters. JRC is a custom, one man shop. All of our Horsehide holsters are individually crafted one at a time,to order. Special individual care is given to each holster, being sure to provide the customer with not only a supremely functional holster, but an individual work of art. My professional background has always been related to firearms. Starting out in the Army with MOS's in Small Arms Repair and Ammunition Specialist, I went on to pistolsmithing and custom rifle building as a young man. Later in life, I was involved in the manufacture of Title 2 weapons, such as Suppressors, Machineguns, etc. At the time, I held one of the few Destructive Device manufacturing licenses in Wa. state. I went on to form GemTech along with other industry professionals, where I did design work on suppressors and other exotic weapons. Later I went on to develop the CQBWS Combat Sling for NAVSPECWAR and the SOPMOD kit. I have also done consulting and design work for other defense firms. I have been involved in workgroups as part of technology licensing with INEEL and TSWG. All the while I played around with holsters more as a hobby. That said, I mostly carried my pistols in leather from Ken Null and Bruce Nelson, who were both big influences on me. A few years back, I finally decided to take the plunge and take my leather work more seriously by going into the concealed holster business full time. Now I spend my days crafting fine holsters for my customers.
