Colleges are back in session. Here is a throwback to 2014. SUNY Broome Community College built a new multi-story dormitory building that consisted of 220 single bedrooms, 40 double bedrooms and 10 single bedroom resident assistant units, for a total of 310 beds! Delta provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, civil, and survey services for this project!

Have you ever visited Cutler Gardens, near the Broome County Regional Farmers Market? Delta, and our Director of Landscape Architecture, Mike Haas, has been working with the staff there since the late 1980s! The most recent phase included updates and retrofits of multiple garden elements including a native serpentine stone wall and steps in the perennials, custom hand rails, a custom labyrinth, irrigation updates and a hydrangea garden and wildflower meadow. This is a beautiful place to stop by and enjoy the outdoors!

Delta is currently working with staff on a new main entrance and custom sign and pergola this year.

Did you know that Delta played a significant role in the skybox expansion of the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in downtown Binghamton?

In 2004, Delta designed a 3,000 square foot addition/renovation for 8 skyboxes. This project was especially difficult because it came within the confines of the existing arena.

The skyboxes are contained in separate suites, with separate entry and exits for each. Each skybox consists of fixed seating for twelve and loose seating at the stand-up bar, individual temperature and lighting controls, indirect lighting for curved ceiling, and accessible lifts!

Delta was responsible for all aspects of the design including, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and coordination with many vendors for wall, floor, ceiling finishes, selection of seating and related furnishings.

Now entering the 2000’s!!! Delta has been gaining experience with the Office of General Services at New York State correctional facilities!! Specifically, The Wallkill Correctional Facility! This is a medium-security prison and was built in the 1930s in Ulster County, NY.

The facility was experiencing problems with humidity building up in the shower/toilet rooms. The humidity, which was caused be inadequate exhaust and make-up air, and thus was damaging the existing finishes in the spaces. Delta addressed the problems by verifying existing conditions, reviewing the existing mechanical drawings; preparing HVAC load calculations, selection of proper mechanical equipment, assessment of the condition of plumbing fixtures and wall/floor/ceiling finishes that were damaged due to the high humidity levels; and lastly, Delta provided a Program Report with design options to address the humidity issues. Delta recommended the replacement of vitreous China plumbing fixtures with stainless steel materials, and the use of fiberglass wall panels and epoxy paint systems to take the abuse of wet areas, such as showers.

This project then involved implementing the Program Report by upgrading the ventilation system and plumbing fixtures in 12 inmate bathrooms throughout the four galleries. Inmate bathrooms are located on each floor and contain showers, toilets, urinals, and sinks. Delta provided architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical services for this project.

To celebrate our 50th anniversary, here is project from the 1980s!! The D&H Railroad over Susquehanna River Truss Bridge Rehabilitation! This bridge carries the D & H railroad mainline and is a critical link between Albany, New York, and Scranton, Pennsylvania. This project encompassed the rehabilitation of this 680 foot long, three-span through truss railroad bridge. Work tasks included bridge inspection, load rating, rehabilitation design and construction management. All repairs were performed while maintaining the railroad traffic.

Do you know the former IBM buildings in Endicott that were recently torn down? Delta played a role in that demolition!!! Delta provided design services, as well as environmental services for the demolition and removal of the debris, making this site shovel ready for future business opportunities!
