Dryer season is picking up in Denver, which means the lint pile behind the machine is too.

A clogged dryer vent is one of the more common ways house fires start, and it also makes the dryer run longer, get hotter, and wear out parts faster. If clothes take two cycles to dry, the outside vent flap barely moves, or you smell hot lint, the hose and the run to the roof or wall need a real cleaning ā€” not just the trap you empty every load.

Your microwave has one job. If it hums along for two minutes and the soup comes out exactly as cold as it went in, it has stopped doing that job and kept the light show.

No heat usually comes down to a diode, a door switch, or the magnetron. Sparks, a turntable that quit turning, or a door that won't latch are worth a call too. Please don't open one up yourself, though. A microwave can hold a nasty charge even after it's unplugged.

Got in the car this morning and let it drive me to work. I talked through my to-do list on the way in, and by the time I pulled into the shop my bots had the day's deliverables lined up and the Model Y had booked my haircut. They even put this post together on the drive. That's a morning of planning done before I finished my coffee. Now if only fixing a fridge were this easy. (It isn't. That's what our techs are for.)
