Before the eFlyer 2 ever leaves the ground, every system has to prove itself. That's where the Battery Engine Assessment Truck comes in — a purpose-built mobile test platform our team designed and built from scratch to validate the eFlyer's motor, cooling system, and power systems at real-world speeds.

That propeller you see? It's spinning on a truck. On a runway. Because when you're building something that's never been done before, you build the tools to prove it's ready.

Before the eFlyer 2 made its way to Colorado, our CEO Rod Zastrow visited the team at Composite Approach to see Serial Number 001 up close — right there in the shop, taking shape ahead of its journey to flight test.

Composite Approach was selected to complete the fabrication and assembly of the eFlyer 2 full-scale prototype, supporting development and integration activities every step of the way. The precision and craftsmanship are embedded in this aircraft, and we're proud to have them as a key partner on this program.

Bye Aerospace is an electric aircraft company headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, building the eFlyer 2 — the FAA's first-ever clean-sheet designed, all-electric training aircraft. As we prepare for a historic milestone, we want to introduce the leader behind it.

Rod Zastrow spent 26 years in the U.S. Air Force as an F-15 combat pilot — instructor, USAF Weapons School (TOPGUN) graduate, squadron and wing-level commander. After the military, he led Spartan Global Aviation Training, a pilot and maintenance training organization with over 90 years of history serving students worldwide.

He joined Bye Aerospace as a Director in 2020 and now serves as CEO and President, leading the development of the eFlyer 2.

When Rod talks about changing how the world learns to fly, he means it from experience.

Right now, in the Denver area, our team is building and preparing to fly the eFlyer 2: a fully electric, FAA-certifiable training aircraft designed to change the economics of learning to fly forever.

Electric power can reduce training aircraft operating costs by up to 80% in the U.S. — and even more internationally where fuel costs run higher. Quieter. Cleaner. More focus on actually learning to fly.

This is SN001 — Serial Number One, our first eFlyer 2 prototype. She's on wheels. And she is stunning.
