UNSOLVED MURDER: On a cold, windy Saturday in January 1977, 63-year-old Mary Harrison was heartlessly attacked in her own home on her farm outside Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

Today is a special day dedicated to our 2025–26 Case of the Year: the unsolved murder of Mary Harrison. On a cold, windy Saturday in January 1977, 63-year-old Mary Harrison was heartlessly attacked in her own home on her farm outside Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She was stabbed over 40 times and nearly decapitated in a frenzied assault.

Almost fifty years later, the same questions remain. Mary’s family, friends, and community still don't know who killed her or why. Countless hours of investigation by law enforcement have yet to provide answers.

We are asking you, our friends and followers, to please help by sharing our posts. Every share could bring Mary's family one step closer to the answers they deserve.

LOST MILITARY DOG: Call 912-398-3686 if you see him.

LOST DOG BUZZ: A retired military service dog, Trooper, got loose with his collar and leash on at 11am this morning in the Willow West area. Last seen going north on Cleveland towards Oxford. If you see him or have him call 912-398-3686. The number is on his collar. Also share with friends if possible.

ROAD CLOSURE: There will be a road closure on a portion of North Adams Street from West Princeton Avenue and Wellesly Avenue, allowing the City of Enid to perform an asphalt repair.
During this construction effort, residents are requested to find alternative parking, as there will be no access to driveways. The work dates are Tuesday, September 1st through Friday, September 11th.

This closure is expected to last approximately two weeks; this closure will be contingent on weather.

Motorists are encouraged to follow posted traffic control signs and to drive with extreme caution in the area during construction.

FALSE CLAIMS: City of Enid Animal Welfare verified with the Oklahoma State Department of Health that there have been no positive cases of rabies in the Enid area despite social media claims.

What’s going on with rabies in the Enid area?

We recently received a message from a concerned resident about social media posts claiming rabies is spreading in our area.

City of Enid Animal Welfare verified with the Oklahoma State Department of Health that there have been no positive cases of rabies in the Enid area.

There is no need to panic. However, this is a good reminder to make sure your pets are up to date on all vaccinations. Preventive action is one of the best ways to protect pets and our community.

HOLIDAY HOURS: In observance of the Labor Day holiday, the City of Enid Administration offices, Enid Animal Welfare, Enid Public Library, and Recycle Center will be closed on Monday, September 7th.

Additionally, the Enid Public Transportation Authority (EPTA) will not be operating on Monday, September 7th.

The Landfill will be open with operating hours from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, September 7th.

The Meadowlake Golf Course first tee time will be at 7:30 a.m. and the course will close at 8 p.m. on Monday, September 7th.

NOTE: All trash routes will remain the same for the holiday. There will be no changes to trash
schedules.
