The saying, "don't shoot the messenger," is valid for this coming year's Medicare enrollment period called AEP (Annual Enrollment Period). New FEDERAL requirements for any agent or call center, if we contact you or you call us, I must now say the following.
"We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options."
There are several concerns we agents have with this. 1. some plans are NOT available for agents to sell in different areas. 2. There are plans I WOULD NOT sell to my enemy. 3. I try not to call Medicare, so why would I recommend my client to do so? Has anyone tried calling their local Social Security Office for help?
Another NEW LAW enacted, we must record all income and outgoing phone calls. To our clients, when talking about Medicare, setting appointments, any Medicare questions that pertain to any Medicare product or service, must now be recorded and kept for ten years.
