Watch Out: Scams Are Everywhere — Don’t Get Fooled!

Phone calls, text messages, and emails can be useful tools — but when they come from the wrong people, they can also be dangerous. Scammers and spammers are working harder than ever to trick you into giving up money or personal information.

You might recognize some of these common scams:

📞 A phone call from someone claiming to be a police officer or federal agent warning you that your Social Security number is suspended.

📱 A text from a local-looking number asking you to pay a traffic fine immediately.

💰 An email promising you an inheritance from a foreign prince (yes, those are still around!).

🛍️ Fake package delivery texts asking you to click a link to "reschedule delivery" or pay customs fees.

💳 Calls claiming to be from your bank or credit card company, asking you to "verify" your account by giving your number.

👨‍⚖️ Threatening messages saying you missed jury duty and need to pay a fine right away.

💻 Tech support scams, where someone says your computer is infected and they need remote access.

Here’s the truth:
Legitimate organizations don’t call or message you out of the blue demanding money, gift cards, or personal information. If something doesn’t feel right — trust your instincts.

¡ATENCIÓN CAMIONEROS HISPANOHABLANTES! NUEVAS REGLAS FEDERALES EXIGEN DOMINIO DEL INGLÉS PARA OPERAR CAMIONES COMERCIALES EN EE.UU.

Desde hace poco, bajo una nueva orden ejecutiva firmada directamente por el presidente Donald Trump, el gobierno federal ha comenzado a hacer cumplir estrictamente un requisito de dominio del idioma inglés para todos los conductores de camiones comerciales (CDL). Esta no es una advertencia general ni una ley antigua: ¡la norma se está aplicando activamente y ya hemos visto a varios de nuestros clientes detenidos por no cumplirla!

Hemos tenido clientes camioneros que han sido detenidos por oficiales y sacados de servicio debido a una percepción de que no podían comunicarse en inglés. Las autoridades han mostrado disposición a hablar rápidamente y de una forma que provoca estrés o malentendidos. Es muy importante que te mantengas calmado y respondas a sus preguntas lo mejor que puedas. MANTENTE CALMADO. También recomendamos que llames a nuestra oficina de inmediato. Aunque la ley no permite que nuestra oficina actúe como traductor, hemos podido coordinar con las autoridades en varias ocasiones para ayudar a resolver situaciones.

¿Qué exige esta regla?
Poder hablar y entender inglés lo suficiente para:

Comunicarse con oficiales en carretera

Leer señales de tránsito

Comprender documentos relacionados con el transporte

¿Qué pasa si no cumples?
El vehículo puede ser detenido y sacado de servicio

Puedes perder tu CDL (licencia)

Posibles multas o sanciones

Impacto negativo en tu historial y en la empresa

¿Qué puedes hacer?
Evalúa tu nivel actual de inglés. Si no te sientes cómodo hablando con oficiales, es momento de actuar.

Busca clases de inglés enfocadas en transporte y seguridad vial.

Habla con tu empleador o con el dueño del camión para ver si pueden apoyarte.

New Federal Reporting Requirement for Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI).

Effective January 1, 2024, many companies in the United States must report information about their beneficial owners—the individuals who ultimately own or control the company—to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. This report needs to be filed before the end of the year for business registered before 01/01/2024.

Every entity registered with the Secretary of State needs to file.

All new businesses created in 2024 have one month to file from the date of creation.

THIS REPORT WILL ONLY BE FILED ONCE UNLESS THERE ARE ANY CHANGES TO YOUR BUSINESS.

Employers and business owners have been bombarded by messages from groups claiming to be able to get them a substantial credit from the IRS called the Employee Retention Credit (ERC).

These companies will take up-front fees from business owners even if they do not qualify for these credits.

In order to qualify, you must have either (A) been shut down by the government due to COVID, or (B) experienced SIGNIFICANT declines in revenue during the COVID pandemic's height in 2020 and 2021.

Check your own qualifications before paying a company to get these credits. Most of the companies offering these services are spammers or scammers.
