DBS Portable Sawmill & Doug, The Sawmill Guy

DBS Portable Sawmill & Doug, The Sawmill Guy DBS Portable Sawmill, a mobile mill that travels to your logs to cut your trees! Contact Doug, the sawmill guy, at 570-493-0100 or [email protected]

If you have downed trees, logs, or even old barn beams, we can help you saw or re-saw your material into excellent quality with the dimensional and structural integrity you want for any project. Rough sawn lumber built this county and is still used in building projects today. This lumber is a great resource for those who have wooded parcels and desire to use their own trees to create a home, garag

e, shed, barn, or any other project including fine furniture. As a builder/carpenter for 30 years, and owner/operator of DBS Portable Sawmill, and being "the sawmill guy", I've heard some people misquote that rough sawn wood cannot be used for construction. This is far from accurate, the many uses of rough sawn lumber are found in the IBC (International Building Codes). Rough sawn is a completely "green" product, and provides a way for people with trees on their land to create anything from furniture to their dream home. It is totally carbon neutral and the most earth friendly and renewable resource we have on the planet. You get bragging rights with this wood too...after all, who else can say they took their trees down and reassembled into the house where they live? That is the highest form of recycling there is. When you have downed trees or logs and have questions on what they could be used for, all me, Doug, I am the sawmill guy. I can help you evaluate which trees will be best for structural use, craft use or for your wood furnace. I guarantee the highest yield and quality from each log, as I have a band saw mill which creates very little waste. By having your own trees or logs sawn, you have the best of both worlds; 1) the ability to produce your own lumber, and at a much lower cost than any home department store or lumber depot can match. 2) No trucking costs...the sawmill comes to your logs! Call Doug, the sawmill guy, for a free estimate and timber evaluation today, 570-493-0100, email any questions to [email protected] or check out our website and see some of the projects and our Weekend Warrior section where our customers participate in the cut, at www.dbsportablesawmill.com. No matter which contact method you choose, we've got you covered. Thanks for your interest! Doug Bergold, Owner/Operator

Doug Bergold, "The Sawmill Guy" of DBS Portable Sawmill, Ian Ernst (professional timber harvester and board member of NTHA) of Ian Ernst Inc., Wayne Conservation District, and the DCNR were all a huge part of today's forestry educational event for the Conservation Leadership Academy at Lacawac Sanctuary Field Station & Environmental Education Center near Lake Wallenpaupack, PA. This was an excellent conservation and forest education event offered to students from 8th grade to Sophomores in College. The students were given a hands-on introduction to forest management, proper conservation concepts and learned basic safety practices. But the coolest segment was observing professional tree felling, limbing and bucking into logs; then having the students use cant hooks to roll the logs to the mill and finally watch Doug, The Sawmill Guy, turn logs into buildable lumber for projects for the sanctuary! It was a tremendous privilege to be part of such a event. Everyone had a great time...can't wait to do it next year!!

ANOTHER GREAT WEEKEND WARRIOR EVENT: Kingswood Methodist Campsite - Woodland Church and Gathering Hall, Hancock, New York

Approximately 147 miles north of New York City, nestled in the Catskill Mountains at Hancock, NY, you’ll find a 766 acres pristine camping and prayer reflection sanctuary belonging to Kingswood Methodist Camp. Many members volunteered for this special mission…to build a woodland church and gathering hall from the trees from the property. An amazing showing of hands were waiting on site, ready to work; and work they did! All of these volunteers have earned the right to be recognized as Honorary Sawmill Guy Weekend Warriors!

The team’s leader, Peter, coordinated the event and saw to it that everyone had a task or an assigned duty. Many of the timbers were up to 31 feet in length but with everyone’s cooperation, the cutting was safe, a huge success and the goals of the weekend were met. Great food and campfires with lots of milling and stacking ensued over the weekend. But the bounty of the lumber speaks for itself. Excellent job! It was an honor for The Sawmill Guy to be a part of such a wonderful event. Looking forward to helping you with your final lumber lists this spring or early fall!

Thanks for a great event! To learn more about the beautiful family oriented Kingswood Campsite and their mission, please visit their website at http://www.kingswoodcampsite.org

It's GOOD NEWS - BAD NEWS time... The Good News is...DBS Portable Sawmill, and Doug, The Sawmill Guy is open and still milling excellent lumber from your trees in northeast Pennsylvania and the southern tier of New York state! BUT HERE'S THE BAD NEWS....DBS/The Sawmill Guy's phone number 570-493-0100, which is serviced by Sprint, apparently is having tower and connectivity issues. Sprint tech support has finally admitted that they no longer will pay to ping off other cell phone company towers, which means Sprint no longer offers roaming or extended coverage in our area, and that translates to no phone support within our client's territory. Sprint's decision to cancel these pinging contracts has made it nearly impossible for their customers, like DBS Portable Sawmill/Doug, The Sawmill Guy, to communicate in the vast majority of the Wayne, Pike and Susquehanna County areas in PA and all neighboring New York State counties. Please know DBS is in process of locating and switching carriers, but it will take a few days to organize, but be assured, we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. We know you want your trees milled before winter, so, please know you can still TEXT us, that feature, apparently still works. Or allow the phone to ring through to the voicemail. We are checking the devices several times a day until we can resolve the carrier situation. Thank you for your patience as we move forward to finding a new provider that can cover all our beautiful Delaware River Corridor and PA and NY's pristine countryside! I'd say call with any questions.... but...well, you get the joke there!
