Imagine in business a world where you have no competition (monopoly). What happens to the level of service received when there is no where else to get it? Obviously it declines and this is why the California Teachers Association (CTA) continually works to thwart school choice. In California the states school system consumes over 50% of the states budget ( that's over 50 BILLION) and what do we get for that? California ranks 41st overall and 45th in critical skill sets subjects that young people need to prosper. That is not a very good return on on our investment and if you or I ran a business like that we wouldn't be in business.
