My thoughts are with the first responders right now, having to walk in to a classroom of 30+ injured and dead.

It's 7 at night, and my phone says it's still 99 degrees. While this weather continues, remember to check on one another. People on fixed incomes may not be able to afford a/c, and those who are sick or elderly may suffer. Do a good deed for the day and offer to walk an elderly neighbor's dog, or help out when you see the guy down the street struggling with his lawn mower. In other words, have each other's backs, help when you can, and maybe some day, when you need it, someone else may be looking to do a good deed.

If you haven't seen your neighbor for a couple of days, take the time to knock on their door and make sure medical help isn't needed.

No family will be turned away due to lack of insurance or funds when there is an unexpected death. There are resources in the community that can help with funds, and we're willing to work with those less fortunate to find alternative m**hods of payment.

I would like to thank everyone who voted and who helped spread the word about the Chase small business grant contest. We made it to phase 2, so now it's just up to the judges.

I would love to remind everyone to continue voting for local small businesses, and especially in Eugene/Springfield, we have all day to get our local businesses into phase 2 if we all work together!

Spring has finally sprung! Let's all keep careful count of our fingers and toes as lawns get mowed and hedges get trimmed. It doesn't need to be a murder or su***de for my company to be called in, and I'd just as soon have my neighbors in one piece over the business!

With the cold weather and flu, please keep an eye on each other. I don't need the business that bad! Make sure your neighbors are safe, especially the elderly and disabled. A whole family could be floored by the flu in a short time; so make sure everyone's accounted for!
