Woods Communications, Inc.

Woods Communications, Inc. We specialize in broadcast facility maintenance and new construction in the Pacific Northwest.

I enjoy designing and developing systems that improve the overall operation of a facility. Its very rewarding to solve problems, but many times as a staff engineer I found myself in need of additional resources to complete ad-hoc projects or to recover from unexpected equipment failures. Consultants were always pleasure to work and I knew someday I would be partnering with owners and operators to

do the same work. I specialize in developing creative solutions for challenging projects in wireless communications.

We are hiring! Part-Time On-Call IT Support Technician (As-Needed)

We provide maintenance, troubleshooting, and support for radio and TV broadcast towers, transmitters, studios, two-way radio systems, point-to-point microwave links, and wireless ISP. We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on IT technician to provide occasional technical support on an as-needed basis.

This is a very part-time, flexible role with no guaranteed hours. Work is driven by whatever comes up — office systems, field laptops used by technicians, software for transmitter/studio/microwave work, or urgent troubleshooting during client jobs.

What you’ll do:
• Troubleshoot and maintain computers, laptops, networks, and software used by our technicians in the office and out in the field.
• Support systems related to transmitter diagnostics, studio equipment, two-way radio programming/configuring, point-to-point microwave link monitoring, logging, and broadcast operations.
• Provide remote or occasional on-site IT help when issues arise during tower, transmitter, studio, two-way, or microwave projects.
• Keep systems running smoothly for reporting, compliance, and day-to-day operations.
• Work independently and document what you did.
What we’re looking for:
• Solid hands-on experience with IT hardware, networking, Windows troubleshooting, and software support (2+ years preferred).
• Ability to work independently and respond when needs come up.
• Reliable transportation and flexibility for occasional field or after-hours support.
• Bonus: Experience or strong interest in broadcast/radio/TV environments, two-way radio systems, point-to-point microwave links, transmitter or RF-related systems, audio/production software, or amateur radio (ham) background.

This role is ideal for someone technically strong who likes occasional hands-on work supporting real broadcast and communications projects.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience. Paid only for hours worked.

To apply: Email your resume and a short note about your relevant experience and availability to [email protected] Please include what rate you’re looking for.
