Eureka Volunteer Fire Department We are an all-volunteer fire department committed to the safety and well-being of our community. What is a fireman? Yet he stands taller than most of us.

He is the guy next door - a man's man with the memory of a little boy. He has never gotten over the excitement of engines and sirens and danger. He is a guy like you and me with wants and worries and unfulfilled dreams. He is a fireman. He puts it all on the line when the bell rings. A fireman is at once the most fortunate and the least fortunate of men. He is a man who saves lives because he has seen too much death. He is a gentle man because he has seen the awesome power of violence out of control. He is responsive to a child's laughter because his arms have held too many small bodies that will never laugh again. He is a man who appreciates the simple pleasures of life - hot coffee held in numb, unbending fingers - a warm bed for bone and muscle compelled beyond feeling - the camaraderie of brave men - the divine peace and selfless service of a job well done in the name of all men. He doesn't wear buttons or wave flags or shout obscenities. When he marches, it is to honor a fallen comrade. He doesn't preach the brotherhood of man. He lives it. Author unknown

🔥 NAVARRO COUNTY BURN BAN LIFTED 🔥

10:00 AM | October 9, 2026 — The Navarro County Commissioners Court has officially lifted the countywide Burn Ban, effective at 10:00 AM today.

Recent rainfall has improved conditions across much of Navarro County; however, we ask all residents to continue using caution with any outdoor burning. Fire conditions can change quickly, especially with dry vegetation, wind, and lower humidity.

If you plan to burn outdoors, please:

• Follow all Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Outdoor Burning Rules and Regulations
• Check weather conditions before beginning any burn
• Avoid burning on windy days
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep water and fire-suppression equipment readily available
• Make sure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area

The lifting of the Burn Ban does not remove the responsibility to conduct outdoor burning safely and in accordance with applicable state and local regulations.

Thank you for helping us keep Navarro County safe.

NAVARRO COUNTY 7-DAY RAINFALL OUTLOOK
September 29–October 5, 2026

A wetter weather pattern is on the way for North and Central Texas. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth is forecasting regional rainfall totals of 2–5 inches Wednesday through Friday, with locally higher amounts possible. Additional showers may continue into the weekend.

Please note: The 2–5 inch range shown in the graphic represents regional storm-total guidance—not a verified seven-day total specifically for Navarro County. Local amounts will depend on where storms develop and whether repeated rounds of rain affect the same locations.

The regional threat for flash flooding is expected to increase Wednesday afternoon through Thursday, especially where thunderstorms repeatedly move over the same areas. The location of the heaviest rainfall remains uncertain, so please monitor forecast updates closely.

📱 Take time now to review your family’s emergency plan, charge phones and portable radios, and identify flood-prone locations along your regular travel routes. Keep reliable ways to receive weather information available, including a NOAA Weather Radio.

🚧 Never drive through flooded roadways or around barricades. Water can conceal damaged pavement or washed-out roads. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

Please follow the Navarro County Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service for updates as the forecast develops.

Forecast information: NWS Fort Worth, September 29, 2026, at 5:52 AM CDT.
