They say 3 is the Magic number.

But if you are doing ANY one of these 3 things, you might not be seeing to much magic happening with your credit.

And just what are these 3 cardinal rules to stay away from?

1. Bare Minimum...making bare minimum payments. It's good to make them if that's what's available at that time. However that practice and behavior won't get you the increase you're looking for.

2. High Balances... Keeping high balances. Keeping high balances works in direct conflict with your credit utilization that makes up 30% of your score. If you're above 30% of retaining balance, you won't get the increase that you're looking for.

3. Applying for credit too often... This creates inquiries and too many inquiries in a short amount of time can and will compromise your score and cause them to drop.
