In my district, I’m excited to be partnering with Councilwoman Caetrina Peterson, in the city of Dumfries, and our White House Black Market family in to serve as a drop off location for families in Prince William County. I have been so consumed with work until; I have had less time for my passion working with people and community. Thankfully, I still get to mentor, young female professionals I come across that work on my team. The news today saddens me that we have lost the passion of letting people have their opinions even if we don't agree. Back in the day a good old debate was challenging and got your wheels turning to get involved in community! It should never be about bullying people into submission to agree with your views. I pray as a community we get back to what freedom means, the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hinderance or restraint.

I can't believe I've been in NOVA for a little over a year now. I started working in a little town called Dumfries and now I am literally in DC. For a country girl it's literally been me learning how to navigate. Thank goodness my husband is from Brooklyn and has been my ROCK and sounding board when the road gets tough! I have missed my foundation, YouTube and events with my cousin Faith and Bestie Tonjua! I don't care where I go there's no other core like those two. In the mist of my service work, I am happy to be getting back on the saddle with my foundation and tuning into social media and updating my page! Life moves so fast, and work consumes us; therefore, we have to remember the impact our journey has on others that may not have a road map to success. Being close to this political climate and driving into the protest almost daily let me know my work is needed. I know I am grateful to my mentors, social media influencers and YouTube podcast that has impacted me and taught me some lessons that have helped me on my career journey; therefore, I know I needed to get back to service.

The CBC was in DC and I had so many political conversations with young people and was excited to witness how many young people are starting to watch, listen and learn. This should be the goal! These platforms will soon have to offer more substance the more educated on issues people become. As you are getting ready to vote, don’t feel hopeless, we have been fortunate in that one candidate was elected as President while the other one serves as Vice President. Keeping track of your finances and being aware of your community should allow you to gauge how the world looked under one administration and listen to the platform of the policies that will be implemented under the other. It all boils down to self interest or impoverishing and suppressing disenfranchised communities. Either way, it is your choice, it is your vote, you shouldn’t argue it, and you should thank your friends if you lose any because a friendship based purely on political preferences was never that strong or deep.

Having relocated, I haven’t been able to consistently post inspirational messages for business and career women on the move! However, I still stop by and take in motivation from others (keep it coming) as I settle into my new role, my daughter starts a new school, and being a mentor to my son as he continues to grow into adulthood. In addition, to my husband supporting our family as we transition. Sometimes, you have to give your life your undivided attention and certain areas requires your focus! I just wanted to stop by and tilt my hat to other moms and career women taking care of their families while developing their careers- You’re amazing!

It’s hard to believe I officially have a 7th grader! Today was so bitter sweet it felt like Kindergarten all over again as she started a new school! Praying for a great year!🙏🏾 . Virginia schools here we come! ❤️
