You all have been awaiting the 24hr result of the thistle forest. Well here it is, you can see they are no longer tall and happy. But more wilting and sad looking. And look a trampoline hidden within! 24hrs later and the entire plant is already dying, won’t be able to spread more seeds and the entire plant will not grow next season. Soon to be nothing but a pile of crusty dead w**ds!!

Pruning all the leaves and branches (total defoliation) on a willow tree and other trees in June removes its ability to make food via photosynthesis. This severe stress will cause the tree to immediately push out a frantic burst of weakly attached epicormic growth, while exposing the bare wood to disease and decay.

Is spraying your trees worth the money, and beneficial for removing pests. Or are there better solutions.

You cannot kill all insects on a tree just by spraying it. Spraying only affects insects actively exposed to the treatment on the outer leaves, branches, or bark. It completely misses bugs hidden under leaves, borers inside the wood, and pests living in the surrounding soil.

Biological Limits of Sprays
* Systemic vs. Contact: Standard sprays usually require direct contact to smother eggs or soft bodies. Systemic insecticides are absorbed by the roots and travel through the tree to kill pests that feed on the foliage.
* Life Cycles: A single spray rarely kills eggs, meaning newly hatched pests will emerge later.
