This week I found out I made Ignition’s Top 50 Women in Accounting for 2026.
This one really means something to me. I spent fifteen years at a strategic consulting firm before I ever touched a set of books. I didn’t know it at the time, but that was the job description I’d spend the rest of my career rebuilding. Teaching. Holding people accountable for what they said they’d do.
Officeheads exists because I believe accurate books are the floor, not the product. Anybody can hand a client a correct number. What they can’t get anywhere else is someone who knows their business well enough to say what they should do about it and says it out loud.
Here’s the part that hits me most, though. I was on the very first list, back in 2018. The profession looked quite different then. Compliance was still the product. Nobody was talking about AI touching a close, and advisory and coaching was something you did for clients who thought to ask, not something you named and led with.
Getting to make this list again, eight years later, in an industry that’s been rebuilt underneath me twice, tells me I haven’t stood still. I built a system, then I changed it, again and again, when the ground moved. That’s the part I’m proudest of.
This award isn’t mine. It’s my team’s. It’s every CAS Manager who records a monthly Insight Video and has to actually form a view before they hit record. It’s every client who let us push them past bookkeeping and QBO reports and into a real conversation about their numbers.
Eighteen years in, and the work has come full circle. I’m not just teaching clients anymore. I’m teaching the accountants who teach them. That part I didn’t see coming.
Thank you to Ignition, to the judges, and to every Officeheads client who trusted us enough to get past the fear of finance. Here’s to igniting a little more change in this profession.
