The PNW boat feature nobody cares about in July? HEAT.

Come September & October, a good diesel furnace can add months to your boating season. A warm salon is nice (of course it is!) but heat helps keep dampness down, windows clear and the whole boat a lot more comfortable when the PNW turns cool and gray. A good heating system isn’t really a luxury, it’s part of what makes a boat genuinely usable in the PNW.

September through early November is a very particular kind of boating season in the Puget Sound. The summer-only crowd starts disappearing, but plenty of serious local boaters are still cruising, fishing, maintaining boats, shopping for their next boat, and thinking about what worked—or didn’t—this season.

Happy Labor Day from Everett Yachts!

Labor Day may mark the unofficial end of summer, but around here, there’s still plenty of great boating.

Crisp mornings and beautiful September days make late-season cruising well worth keeping the boat ready for. Wherever the long weekend takes you, have a safe and happy Labor Day — and enjoy the water!

**September might be one of the best boating months in the Northwest.**

The crowds are thinning out and the marina is getting quieter. The mornings get crisper but there are still plenty of good boating days ahead.

It also happens to be a great time to shop for a boat. Sellers who hoped to make a move during the summer may be more motivated, and buyers have a chance to see a boat for what it really is—not just how good it looks tied to the dock on a perfect July afternoon.

Your nose might be one of the best troubleshooting tools on your boat.

One of the most useful things an owner can do is get very familiar with what's normal for *their* boat. New sounds, smells, or vibrations are often your first indication that something has changed. A few you should never ignore:

🔹 Hot rubber — Slipping belt, overheating hose or another component getting hotter than it should. Definitely check.
🔹 Diesel or gasoline — Don’t assume anything. Find the source, especially with gasoline.
🔹 Electrical or burning-plastic — Shut down the affected equipment and investigate. Overheated wiring and connections can become serious problems quickly.
🔹 Rotten eggs — Depending on where it’s coming from, this can indicate a battery problem or sanitation issue.
🔹 Musty or earthy — Time to look for moisture, leaks and areas with poor ventilation.

Pay attention to the little things because they have a habit of becoming big things.
