03:45am today I was woken up... And I need your help to send out a few thank you coffees today.
I heard what sounded like a young women screaming at the top of her lungs. In a daze I ran outside to see if I could pinpoint where it was coming from to share with law enforcement and to help if able.
I called 911 and they had already dispatched an officer. Within 10 second I heard multiple sirens as the police converged to help this women. Having "been there and done that", it sounded like a mental health issue as it took roughly 30 min to calm this person down and if it were life threatening she would have been scooped and transported within minutes. Prayers she gets the help she needs and has a support system in place.
No matter what it was, it was a big reminder to me.
Police, Fire, EMT's, Medics, dispatchers, ER nurses and others work 24 hours a day. They take NO days off. They work while we sleep. We live in a country where you can call 911 and within seconds be on the line with someone who can help.
They then have to show up to the most stressful environments you or I could ever imagine facing and operate with grace, courage, kindness, bravery and make decisions before you or I have even processed what the hell is going on. They can never make a single mistake in their job. Unlike us if they have a bad day it is magnified by others and can have immediate and negative impact on others.
I wanted to personally thank all of you today who punch the clock for our safety and freedom. Our country needs work but it could be a hell of a lot worse and I know first hand how much those in uniform and those supporting them love our communities. Please tag a public service member who deserves a thank you today. Let me buy them a cup of coffee. QR code for the community hero is in the comments.
