The smallest detail on this coin was challenging but fulfilling to get right: a tiny eagle on the back of the 7th Infantry Division coin.

At that size, the eagle gets simplified to its identifying shapes and cut slightly deeper than the surrounding relief, so the edges hold. It sits with rank and unit devices over an engraved landscape of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, with the division insignia, etched and painted, on the front.

The coin was made to be presented by the division's Command Career Counselor.

Every crew has an identity beyond the station number. For Station 5 of the Boise Fire Department, it's the "Sleepless Knights."

Front side carries the station number, Engine 5 and Ladder 5, and Local 149. The back is where it gets personal: a knight on horseback under the "Sleepless Knights" name, with a Star of Life and ladder worked into the design.

Fire Prevention Week starts today. It always falls on the date of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

The Chicago Fire Department now runs 96 stations and handles roughly 800,000 calls a year.

Today, we feature this coin built for CFD: a bald eagle and American flag against a flame background on the front, the department emblem on the back, bare gold metal set against glossy red to give it some depth.

Here's a coin we customized for HSI's Cocoa Beach, Orlando personnel, Homeland Security Investigations, the investigative side of ICE.

Front side pairs a skull with an American flag motif and the HSI Cocoa Beach, Orlando lettering. The reverse leans into local identity: the shape of Florida, an alligator, palm trees, and a space shuttle, all in an antique-gold finish with raised and recessed detail so the imagery pops against the darker background.

Happy National VFW Day. Since 1899, the VFW has stood with combat veterans and their communities.

Today, we're highlighting a coin we built for one of their posts: VFW Post 1383 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Shiny gold plating, the VFW logo up front, the Post 1383 (Pelican Post) emblem on the back, clean and elegant.

"If You Ain't Ordnance, You Ain't Sh*t." That's IYAOYAS, the unofficial motto Navy Aviation Ordnancemen have worn for generations. No official record pinpoints where it started, but it's been worn with pride and passed down from squadron to squadron.

This custom coin was commissioned by Chapter 68 to represent that identity: a winged skull wrapped in flame, the chapter number worked right into the forehead.
