Fantastic evening painting FAI Ski 2/20 and enjoying the Alaskan evening sun. The post event BBQ was also a hit.

Last week we helped paint the ski strip at FAI!

Each year a team of volunteers paint practice markings on the FAI ski strip. These markings are used by pilots practicing short field operations and allow pilots to gauge how much runway is used during takeoff and landings, which improves safety by ensuring that they know the performance of themselves and their aircraft when conducting off airport operations like landing on gravel bars and mountain tops.

Fairbanks Aviation Day was spectacular!

Our Explorers volunteered all day at the event and had a great time. We also had a recruiting booth and signed up several new Explorers.

We still have room for a few more youth ages 14-20, if you know a young person interested in aviation careers be sure to have them contact us for information about our next meeting, June 12 at 5:30 pm.
