Yesterday's Adventures. First I went to Yorkshire Restaurant because the sign outside said "Best Breakfast in Town". I far as I could tell, they were right! It was awesome!

Later I went down to the Spotsy Art Festival to see if I could run into Cathy Buckley of Cathy's Custom Jewelry https://www.facebook.com/cathyscustomjewelry.

I sat with her and Mike for a couple hours. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

I started Cathy's Custom Jewelry in 2002 by creating unique jewelry I sell at Art & Craft Festivals

Friday's adventure: Marcus Johnson at Blues Alley in the Washington Press Club Bldg. I love intimate venues. I took a table one back from the stage. Close your eyes and listen.

Today, Tom, Jerry, and I arrived to take Reginal Jackson to his final resting place.

Picture 1: We are on the way.

Picture 2: We need to go down this way to meet him.

Picture 3: He showed up in a 1936 Rolls-Royce Hearse that played a Dixieland version of “When the Saints come marching in” when you open the back door.

It was an impressive event.

Today’s adventure was a trip to Arlington National Cemetery. You can’t help but think about those that gave all so that I could be free. Being a Veteran myself, it leaves me speechless.

The idiot who thinks up these adventures needs his head examined! A 70 year old man with COPD is supposed to walk 4000 steps up and down hills in a cave? Oh, that's right, it me who thinks this stuff up. Well, I am going to have a stern talking to, to me!
In the meantime, I have never been to Luray Caverns, the largest caverns in the Eastern United States and I decided that would be a great adventure. So off I went.
After the cave, I went through the carriage and automobile museum to look at some horse drawn stuff. A picture is worth a bunch of words so.....

Say hello the the King of Rationalization!

I was out in the very hot sun everyday of the weekend. At my age you have to be aware of the consequences. So, I decided to seek medical advice.

Friday I was running all over Mount Vernon in 96 degree heat. Saturday, I had to take a horse to Sterling, VA for a South East Asian Grooms Procession. I was wearing a vest, my top hat, and tails. I was roasting. Cindy was also very hot under her costume. Then Sunday I went to the farm to work with the new horses.

Since I am doing alternative exercise, that is Yoga and Tia Chi, I thought perhaps I should also seek alternative medical advice.

Dairy Queen suggested a medium strawberry sundae. Who am I to argue with the doctor’s prescription?

Here’s adventure! Here’s Romance! Here’s O’Henry’s famous Robin Hood of the Old West, The Cisco Kid!!!!!

Oops, wrong tag line. I mean…. Here’s this week’s adventure!

I’ve been to Mount Vernon at least 6 times over the years driving horses and carriages for various events. I know where the back parking is. I know the back roads, I know the main loop around the property. I have probably been in front of the mansion 60 times. But I have never been inside.

I decided, it is time to go as a visitor! Proof you ask?

Picture 1: The Mansion
Picture 2: A view to the North from the back porch.
Picture 3: A view straight across to Maryland from the back porch.
Picture 4: A view to the South from the back porch.
Picture 5: It is not stone. It is beveled wood, painted tan, and dusted with sand. Looks impressive but is cheap!
Picture 6: George’s Study
Picture 7: The real proof, George’s teeth!
Picture 8: More real proof, George’s Roast Beef Sandwich.
