That's a wrap on another productive week collaborating with our partners in Panama.
A full week of meetings and engagements focused on continuing our collaboration with partners across Panama's security apparatus who are a strategic partner in the Shield of the Americas/Counter Cartel Coalition (AC3). It was a chance to build on the key relationships and work already underway, and we're grateful for the time, candor, and hospitality extended to us throughout the visit.
A very special thanks to US Ambassador Kevin Cabrera for assisting MAG in organizing the entire visit. Also, a special thanks to the Minister of Public Security for Panama Frank Ábrego and Vice Minister of Public Security Mr. Luis Felipe Icaza for your time and insight. Also, thank you to the backbone of the security institution of Panama for time and collaboration: SENAFRONT (National Border Service), the National Police (PN), and SENAN (National Aeronaval Service), along with other key elements of the Public Forces.
Each conversation reinforced the same message: Panama sits at the crossroads of the hemisphere, and the challenges its security forces face are regional in scope, from transnational criminal networks and illicit trafficking to maritime security and the pressures along the Darién.
Finally, a big thank you to the U.S. Embassy Foreign Commercial Service, the Department of State, INL (Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs) leadership, and the U.S. Security Cooperation office for your time and insight. Keeping our U.S. and Panamanian partners aligned ensures that our support fits into the broader cooperation between both nations.
What stands out every time is the professionalism and commitment of the people doing this work every day, often in some of the most demanding terrain in the Americas. They have a clear-eyed view of their mission and a strong appetite for partnerships that deliver real capability.
MAG’s foundation is built on establishing lasting partnerships to enable security cooperation relationships that are built on trust, sustained presence, and understanding the mission from the partner's perspective. This visit strengthened all three.
Thank you to our hosts in Panama and at the U.S. Embassy! We look forward to continuing this work together in the months ahead!
