Collaboration, connection, and community were on full display at the Destination Visit Blue Ridge: Small Business Tourism Conference in Buchanan.

The Virginia SBDC Network was proud to support this event via our Greater Roanoke and NRV SBDC team, bringing together entrepreneurs, tourism leaders, and community partners for meaningful conversations about regional growth and small business success.

The Greater Roanoke and NRV SBDC hosted a panel discussion on "Coopetition, Collaboration, Regionalism & Goldilocks", featuring:

• Sarah Melendy, Mountain Thyme Honey & Gifts

• Karen & John Schopp, Center Stage Catering | The Porch & Voodoo Lounge Bar | Fire Kitchen

• Carissa & Keegan Divant, Be Grace Studios

Panelists shared candid insights on balancing collaboration and competition, building strong regional partnerships, and creating experiences that strengthen both local economies and community identity.

Attendees also heard from Regina Cook, MS, CPTM of Virginia Western Community College, whose presentation, “Rocking It: Entrepreneurial Success in a Multi-Generational World,” offered valuable perspective on leading and connecting across generations in today’s evolving business landscape.

Thank you to all who participated, shared their expertise, and helped make this gathering such a meaningful opportunity for learning and connection.

Events like this demonstrate the power of regional collaboration in supporting vibrant small business ecosystems across Virginia.
