Did you ever think there was only one biblical Joseph who advanced from the prison to the palace?

Well, you lie.. Meet Dr. Louisa "Josephine" Akaiso

Listen, God accomplished the seemingly impossible.

I am from that small rural coastal community!

Yes, I heard you ask, "Where in the world is that?" It is located in West Africa - Nigeria's Niger Delta region.

You are right! What do you think? God found me on the map.

Very many years ago, I recall attempting to pursue a Master's degree in Intercultural Communication. One of my instructors invited me to his office, asked where I was from, looked at me with disgust, and told me I was in the wrong place, wasn't a good fit, and that I would fail because I made a mistake on one of his papers.

To be completely honest, I became so demotivated that I dropped out after the first semester, but once I found my purpose and switched to pursuing a Masters in Gender Studies with a concentration in Women in Leadership, I began to flourish...

All of my instructors admired and saw me as a blessing to the class because I not only brought with me ongoing work experience (as I work with women and girls on a daily basis through my organisation and community-based projects), but also my eagerness to learn and apply these concepts in order to change the existing narratives/systems and create new ones that were inclusive of women, in order to pave the way for Women and Girls to thrive.

I came to North America as a very hungry little girl from "black" Africa, not knowing how I would make it, but borrowed my belief from God's Image of me.

Today, I received the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Award from the Honorable President Joe Biden!

Sis! Again, where are you from? Who is your biological father? .... How on earth did this happen? ... these are the questions on the heart of many πŸ™‚ .. Oh well, my Father is Jesus, he breaks Protocols!

When I was nominated, I thought I was dreaming, but the dream lasted so long that I finally received this honour on January 29th.

Listen Up! It makes no difference what people call you;

Hello Facebook Family,

Please permit me to personally invite you to the International Civility for the Girl Child Day on Thursday, October 13th, 2022.

This month is being dedicated to the Girl Child globally. Some might wonder why.

I, Dr Louisa Akaiso encourages everyone to acknowledge the unprecedented difficulties girls face and pledge to provide opportunity and equality for them in our various communities.

β€œInternational Civility For the Girl Child Day” is built on the Concept of the Golden Rule, Civility, Image and Leadership. It is a day where Every Girl Child should be encouraged to find her voice, embrace her flaws, and develop the capacity to lead others unapologetically with her Girl Power.

This year, Women who win Africa is joining with Global Girl child Ambassadors and Women leaders to celebrate not only the Girl Child day, but to also provide her with Strategies that will Educate, Equip and Empower her to find her Voice and Lead with her GirlPower Now!

I believe that if the Girl child is empowered to Use her voice, and given the right opportunities, she will become the agent of change that propels her community forward.

We have several other programs that will be shared through out the month to celebrate the Girl Child!

Time: 12 EST; 5pm WAT; 7pm Kenyan time.

STOP!!! SHUT UP!!! KEEP QUIET GIRL!!!

You are making noise. Don't you know that you are a girl. You don't talk when men are talking. You keep quiet and stay in the other room. Prepare the food, and take care of the house.

Who is that one talking? Abeg, just shut up' in Nigerian pigdin English. I don't know what is giving you the moral to talk nowadays. Is it because of these small small breast coming out in front of your chest.

A lot of African girls can attest to this story that this was the challenge they had too as a growing up girl.

When I was a girl I walked like a girl, I talked, behaved and reasoned like a girl.

I was challenged like a girl, sometimes I had something to say, but even though I had the ability to say it, my voice was taken from me.

I faced limitations, discrimination nicely put as I was silenced.

Today, my story is different. I now have a voice.

Now I am a woman who has recreated so many other girl child all over Africa and I will do everything within my power and grace to keep creating a life and transforming the world of the Girl Child!

Happy International day of the girl.

I just want every girl to know that I cannot stop and I will not stop, because I've walked those shoes before and I know where and when it hurts!

My name is Dr. Louisa Akaiso. I will continue to use my Voice! The continent of Africa will hear my voice.

Repeat those words with me. Add your name. Let me see it in the comment section.

Let's see who goes first.πŸ’›

β€œIf a woman is called a street sweeper, she should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. SHe should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and Earth will pause to say, Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

Thank you so much New Africa Amazon for the feature!
