IDNR is accepting applications for the Natural Area Stewardship grants through June 15.

The goal of the program is to increase stewardship efforts at natural areas protected within the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission system. Stewardship needs at sites across the state continue to exceed the capacity of volunteers, organizations and government agencies. The program's purpose is to fund projects that address immediate needs while assisting conservation land trusts stewardship capacity through additional staff and equipment.

Today, we announced $175M in funding to help communities across the country prepare for and recover from disasters. These funds will support hundreds of disaster recovery and hazard mitigation projects, including repairing critical infrastructure and installing generators in public buildings.

This funding aligns with our commitment to ensure rapid, direct and responsible delivery of federal dollars to empower states and make the nation more resilient under Secretary Markwayne Mullin's leadership.

IDNR is accepting applications for the State Furbearer Fund Special Funds Grant Program through May 15.

The State Furbearer Fund provides grants to appropriate not-for-profit organizations, governmental entities, educational institutions, and corporations for projects that benefit furbearing mammals and improve harvesting opportunities for hunters and trappers of furbearers.

Grants from the fund support activities and programs undertaken to:

➡Educate hunters, trappers and the public about furbearing mammals and their management.

➡Provide instruction and training to current and potential hunters and trappers on techniques and laws associated with hunting and trapping furbearing mammals.
Support scientific research on ecology, conservation or management of furbearing mammals.

➡Develop or improve public furbearing mammal habitat management areas within Illinois.
