This. This is one of the things I was most looking forward to on the trip. This one moment walking in to Frida’s courtyard is one I will never forget. This moment when I was described to Blair what is has meant to me to be able to see where these phenomenal artists like Kahlo and Monet have CREATED their work, to see and feel what INSPIRED them has been life changing for me, and yes I cried, happy tears. I remember going to Italy as a 17 year old and walking through Rome, seeing the eye of the Pantheon, the Pieta, etc. that I had just read about in my first Art History class - mind blowing! But after so many classes, after soooo many years, and after sooooooo much life, and my own evolution, even believing that I am an artist myself, to have the opportunity and privilege to visit these, albeit busy, very personal spaces has been monumental for me. Even to walk in their steps for a little while felt special, and while all of the spaces are inspiring, it’s also a reminder, that they were just people. And they lived, and they made their lives what they wanted, both in their art and their surroundings.

Talk about making my heart happy 💗 I haven’t been to Ghent Square since I closed my shop, Lovely Somethings, which has been almost 6 years ago 😳 We live down the street so I drive by all of the time. After us, my space had an interior designer, and is currently a law office, but we were excited to check out the space next door and Bath’s newest small biz, for their Grand Opening. Blair and I stopped, looking a mess after taking the pups for a Fall Hiking Spree stroll, and we instantly smiled as we walked in, feeling the magic. There is a wonderful range of books, and little surprises! I was delighted to see my paper friends , a cooking and gardening section, and even a area - which instantly took me back to my shop the day after he and the team won the 2016 championship and people were stopping in the store asking where LeBron lived, also down the street. I’m delighted for Amy and Lindsey and I hope they find the sense of community you all gave me and that little corner of the world. Reminder: we all need to remember to show up day after day after day! Congrats ladies, and I’m looking forward to joining a craft session, too, signing up now, link in stories 🎨

I can’t believe people are saying that summer is over. I know it has been hot but because I’ve been working so much it feels like it’s disappeared. While day in and day out, I’m doing what I believe to be SUPER important work, helping our community get critical health, life, everything services through ; I’m also learning so much about what it takes to show up every day IN our communities. When asked our friend group who wants to walk with her and in Akron’s PRIDE Parade, it was an easy yes! They should all be easy yeses to show up for the causes and the people that you care about. Say YES people. Love to all ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷🩵🤎 Happy Pride, Akron!

The birthday girl chose her namesake cookbook for this month’s cookbook club, The Joy of Cooking, hosted by . There was marinated goat cheese; olive and walnut bread; gazpacho; orange, fennel and olive salad: a salad with green beans, yellow squash, tomatoes; chicken and veggie kebabs; super yummy herb pepper steak kebabs; insanely delicious orange blossom gimlets; and I made super easy shortbread, and served it with honeycomb ice cream. Best part, getting to meet little miss Mae 🐶

In case you’re new here, I will die on this hill: our friends make THE BEST VANILLA ICE CREAM EVER TO EXIST. And perhaps my fave ice cream, period. So glad we could get our end of the weekend fix, . Shop and eat local 🍦

You guys! Monday is a BIG day for me, I can’t wait to tell you why, soon. To prepare, I needed to restock on Little Notes, LePens and sure some other totally necessary things. I headed over to see Heather and Erin - duh, shop local.
🔥 TIP from a former stationery shop owner - no matter where you are, check out the greeting card selection. Buy what you love, not necessarily what you need. Then you’ll have a killer stash, always ready to cheer up a friend or toast a couple, and you won’t have to scramble/rush out to whatever convenient store is open and settle for what they have. Shop smarter, and keep your money in our community 💗

In working on my proposal in order to be considered to design the new logo for our great city (Akron), it was a little trip down memory lane. The second company I co-founded was with my friends, and I think this was our first shirt: ’ tattoo! Akron is home to so many great things, 🍔, 🎶, 🌳, and people often talk about the cost of living being relatively low (which is great), but because of that I think it lends itself wonderfully to so many of us taking the leap and starting businesses! But above all the cool things from our town, it’s really the people that make it what it is (and that they support all of our dreams).

Happy Spring, everyone! It never fails that I plan a trip when I’d normally be planting at home. I’m heading down to Mom’s in Florida, and at least this year I didn’t plan a ton before I left. Tonight I planted the big window boxes above the garage that have a self watering system. And I’m planting the leftovers all together in a group of pots next to the garage so Blair can easily water them, then I will replant/disperse when I get back. Spoiler alert 🚨 the palette this year is NOTHING like this photo. Now time to head to even warmer weather, working remotely, and I hear we may go on an airboat ride…
