North Carolina is made up of over 30.9 million acres of land that is distributed between reserved forest land (2%), unreserved forest land (58%), and non-forest land (40%).
Reserved forestland is set aside under statute or administrative designation, such as state parks. Unreserved forest land is available to be managed for the production of wood products, and includes forests owned by private landowners.
