I am excited to share that I have started the journey to earning my Family Nurse Practitioner Masters degree at Austin Peay State University. The longer I practice in the community providing vital lactation and parent support The more apparent it has become that there is a lack of qualified providers who understand lactation and breastfeeding medicine in our area. Mothers are denied lab requests for low milk supply, breastfeeding problems are brushed aside, moms are told just give the baby a bottle, outdated and non evidence based lactation advice is being given, the babies are always put on anti-reflux medications because that's the easy thing to do instead of investigating. I'm hoping to bridge that medical gap and provide support for new parents and babies here in our community and beyond by expanding my current scope of practice. It's going to be busy for the next 7 semesters!

We are so excited to announce our new FREE monthly mother and infant feeding support groups located in Fairview and Dickson. Fairview feeding support group will be on the first Wednesday of the month and the Dickson support group will be on the third Wednesday of the month. Here are our first two dates. You do not have to be a client to attend. Lactation scales will be available to weigh your baby. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Late post from yesterday... Had a busy day yesterday.I had GOLD Lactation Online Conference presentations between home visits in the morning, got to share the peak of the eclipse with sweet parents and an adorable baby, then picked up my girls.
