Here's something to make your day. NashCamper Rod Casey and his band have been elected to the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame! I received this email from Rod, and asked if I could share to all his friends at NashCamp:
Well we’ll...who woulda thought that the beginner banjo player, actually I didn’t even own one in 2005 my first trip to banjo camp, you met in 2005 and had in camp many years after would be in a band being inducted into the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame! I will say our band has done a lot over the past 10 years to help needy people. We take no money and we are associated with the Hahira United Methodist Church. We have made just over $70,000 of which all went to needy causes. We’ve done funerals, weddings, reunions and may public events associated with cities and counties, and countless churches. We have two CDs and a third in planning. Our website:
lostdogsfound-humc.com.

I always enjoyed Nashcamp and hope to come back some day. Thanks Cindy for giving us a great time and great friends.

Hi friends – Emma here! Eight years ago, I sat at my family’s computer doing what most kids do the month before summer break…finding the most amazing summer camp that will give you adventure, campfire songs, and a mess of new friends. Lost in my search, I decided to give a bluegrass music camp...

Dear friends,

NashCamp was born out of my love of music. While I had another “day job” working in television, NashCamp has been my labor of love, my passion and my joy. Inspired by you, it has been my identity for the last 22 years; one that I cherish.

When we started the camp, I knew it would bring students from all over the country to “Music City”. I felt confident these students would take home knowledge and excitement for their instrument, and I was determined to make sure they had a really good time and good food! There’s no feeling like playing music together. One thing I could not foresee, however, was the establishment of friendships that exist among us. How I cherish these life-long friendships!

Many of you know I have been moving towards retirement, but NashCamp must go on. I have been planning for this change in my life and searching for the perfect person to fill my camp director tennis shoes. :) I have found her, want you to be the first to know that Emma Forster will be the next director of NashCamp. Even though this is a decision I pondered very seriously, the final decision was an easy one. In addition to being wonderfully musically talented, Emma has the heart of a teacher. She is extremely intelligent, kind and personable, and after many years as a student, “camp helper” and teacher, she has the experience and loves NashCamp as much as I do. I hope you will consider supporting Emma through her GoFundMe campaign (https://www.gofundme.com/tzjcbb-nashcamp) to help her make this transition into what will be her life’s work and joy, as it was mine.

I hope you are happy for me and my decision to slow down and follow dreams I have put off for some time. I will stay involved as advisor and finally, as a student! I have often longed to attend NashCamp classes but director duties and the care of my students came first.

In closing, I want to say thank you to everyone for sharing the best and proudest years of my life. There are many good times to come and in one short year, I’ll see you at camp!
Kindest regards,
Cindy
