Have you all heard of the early-mid 2000's Wilson Combat "Cave Guns"? Pretty cool gun. SF had requested a railed 1911 for use in the dark caves in the Middle East to hunt down bad guys. These are made up of Wilson Combat slides and Caspian Arms Ltd. frames (Wilson didn't make a railed frame at that time). They were spec'd for a SF unit and a few were tested, but not officially adopted. These were leftover Caspian frames with the unique 'WCSF' serial prefix they used for those test guns. Technically an overrun of sorts. Not too many made (I read 150 or so) and I think the ones they did make were offered in a green, grey or black frame. Special operators are getting a new rifle that can fire both 7.62mm and 6.5mm Creedmoor rounds as a replacement for the MK17 SCAR-H Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle-Heavy, according to U.S. Special Operations Command.

The MK24 Mid-Range Gas Gun-Assault features a “quick-change swappable barrel” that allows the weapon to fire both kinds of ammunition, said Navy Cmdr. Joe Vermette, a spokesperson for U.S. Special Operations Command.

Special Operations Command, or SOCOM, expects to begin receiving the MK24 later this fiscal year, which runs until Sept. 30, and the rifle will be fielded to “multiple SOF components,” Vermette wrote in an email to Task & Purpose.

“The weapon is currently in production and is a direct replacement for the MK17,” Vermette wrote. “SOCOM is pursuing a rapid fielding method that will begin this fiscal year,” Vermette said.

As many of you know Operation Acid Gambit was a big event during my military career and it’s great to see that my friend Kurt Muse, who we rescued that day, is one step closer to having his story on the big screen. You can learn more here:

'Six Minutes to Freedom' has set Ric Roman Waugh as its director. Netflix is behind the hostage rescue flick, based on a true story.

An Instagram friend who researches surplus US military M1911A1 pistols sent me this today - it’s one of many drawings that Pat McNamara did back in the day while he was Delta. I vaguely remember this one but it’s got to be one of my favorites of all the ones he did. Notice the compensated M1911A1. For a period of time some members of the Unit used these as their primary duty pistol. I never did as I was not a fan of these guns for life and death tools as I had seen far too many problems with them in my days of shooting USPSA. I would advise anyone using one now for duty use to make sure you have tested it with a variety of ammunition and have a good grasp of muzzle blast and muzzle flash in using your pistol. Also keep them well lubed and change recoil springs more often than non compensated pistols. In short treat them more like a race car than a workhorse. If your not willing to sign up for that then leave them as range toys only. I hope you guys like the pic - look up Mac on instagram and definitely give him a follow! He’s a solid dude !
